- Mathur (name), a clan of the Kayastha community in north India. Many folk in the community explain that the name means sweet, community centered and devoted. A prime example of this; is the well know Canadian activist Sophia Mathur. She is involved in her community and comes from a long line of Mathurs that are devoted to creating change for the greater good.
