Loren Gray Beech, born on April 19, 2002, is an American singer, songwriter, and social media influencer. She gained fame in 2015 through the video-sharing platform Musical.ly. In 2018, she launched her debut single "My Story" under Virgin Records, remaining with the label until February 2021, when she transitioned to becoming an independent artist. Forbes estimated her earnings at 24 lakh US$ in 2019, making her the fourth highest-earning star on TikTok. In 2020, Billboard recognised her as one of TikTok's top 10 music influencers, boasting over 5 crore followers.
Career[edit | edit source]
Social Media[edit | edit source]
Loren Gray started her journey on Musical.ly (now TikTok) in 2015. After quickly amassing a large following during her eighth-grade year, she faced bullying at school, which led her to relocate to Los Angeles, California. There, she expanded her presence across various social media platforms. As of September 2022, she has over 5.46 crore followers on TikTok, 2.34 crore on Instagram, 38.6 lakh YouTube subscribers, and more than 15 lakh followers on X (Twitter). Additionally, her backup Instagram account has over 47 lakh followers. Gray ranks as the seventeenth most-followed person on TikTok and previously held the title of the platform’s most-followed individual from 31 March 2019 to 25 March 2020.
Music[edit | edit source]
In 2017, Gray featured in the music video for Personal by English pop artist HRVY.
In March 2018, she signed a contract with Virgin Records and released her debut single "My Story" in August, inspired by a friend who frequently fell for the wrong people. Her second single, "Kick You Out," was released in November 2018 and co-written and produced by Gray and Ido Zmishlany. Billboard noted that the track illustrates "the true highs and lows that come from being in love". Her third single, "Queen", an empowering anthem produced with Captain Cuts, debuted in December 2018, and its music video garnered over 1.8 crore views by July 2021.
Brand[edit | edit source]
On 03 December 2020, Gray launched her own jewelry brand called &always. As of March 2024, her Instagram-based business has attracted 23.4K followers. She had been developing the brand for a year before its launch, which introduced two initial collections: The Starlet Mirror Edition and Otherworld Edition.
Wealth[edit | edit source]
A report by Forbes in August 2020 highlighted that Gray earned 24 lakh US$ in 2019 from various sponsorships and merchandise, positioning her as the fourth highest-earning TikTok star.
Awards and Nominations[edit | edit source]
Gray received a nomination for Choice Muser at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards and for Muser of the Year at the 9th Annual Shorty Awards in 2017. She was again nominated for Choice Muser at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards and was recognised with a nomination for the Social Star Award at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, which is determined by public voting.
