Catholic[edit]
Unlike the Presbyterian and Baptist mission which arrived in the region much earlier ( at least 50–60 years prior to the Catholic Mission), the Catholic Mission took roots in several parts of the region only post independence. Despite this, the region was very welcoming to the missionaries and the growth of the Church was phenomenal. The total number of Catholics in north east India as of 2018 stands at 1,814,358 adherents where the region is divided into 3 Metropolitan Archdioceses and 12 suffragan dioceses with a total of 523 parishes and more than 3500 chapels/mission stations/local churches and congregations as per the statistics mentioned below.
