Jalsin Palace (Later known as Uma Kutir or Palace of Uma) is an 18th century royal residence of the House of Dar in Dhaka, Dhamrai Upazila.[1]
History[edit | edit source]
The Jalsin Palace was built by Raja Virendra Mohan Dar in 1804, in the Jalsin village, Dhamrai Upazila. After the partial demolition of the Nannar Palace in 1919, Raja Mohini Mohan Dhar[2] made the Jalsin Palace the primary royal residence.[3]
In 1966, Raja Chittajit Mohan Dhar renamed the palace as 'Uma Kutir' after his daughter Princess III Uma Dhar.
