Holy Cross Senior Secondary School Kapa was established in 1992 in Raipur, India by Rev. Fr. Arogyadas Kottana as an extension of Holy Cross Byron Bazar.

There are two school buildings separated by a walkway, one for the Pre-Primary School (LKG, UKG) and the other for the Primary-Secondary School (grades 1 - 12). The secondary school building has a standard size football ground, turf wicket cricket field, separate courts for netball, volleyball, basketball.

Academic affiliation[edit]

The school when started was affiliated to MPBSE, and got affiliated to CBSE (Central Board Of Secondary Education)1998.

School session[edit]

The school session is from April to March. Saturday is the normal half day and Sunday being a holiday.

Uniform[edit]

The pre-primary school uniform is shirts with red and white checks and for primary-secondary school students beige shirt with dark brown pleated trousers and socks. During winter months a dark brown pullover is permitted.

Footwear is black leather shoes with laces. On days when students have Physical Training in school, they wear white canvas sport shoes.

The school tie is dark brown with two slanting stripes of color of house.

Curriculum[edit]

Students follow either the CBSE or Madhyamik curriculum till class 12, however, they must follow the curriculum, but may choose to study either Science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology/Computer Science) or Commerce (Commerce, Accounts, Economics and Maths). An Indian language must be offered up to class 12.

House system[edit]

The secondary school students are grouped into four houses named after colors:

  • Yellow - Born To Win.
  • Blue - Soar High To Reach The Sky.
  • Green - We Can, We Shall, We Will.
  • Red - Excel In Excellence

Each house has a House Captain and a House Vice Captain - generally students of grades 11 and 9 respectively. Reporting to them are the House Representatives - one for each of the other grades. These executive members are selected by voting amongst the students belonging to each house.

The houses compete against each other in sports and cultural competitions. On the annual sports day, the winning house is declared on the basis of points earned by its students throughout the year.

Student governance[edit]

Student governance at the institution is carried out by the format of open/closed ballot system. The representatives are elected class wise and the post holders are elected by the staff. Head boy and head girl of the senior most grade preside the student's council. The governance system settles Head Girl and Head Boy at the apex. Immediately below them are Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl.
