Gandhinagar (also called Gandhinagaram) is a neighbourhood of Vijayawada in the NTR district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Vijayawada Central mandal in Vijayawada revenue division.[1]

Overview[edit]

Gandhinagar was a quiet residential complex when it was established in the fifties of the previous century, but over the years it has grown into a busy commercial, entertainment and market complex.[2]

History[edit]

NTR district was carved out of Krishna district in 2022.[3] It came into being on 4 April 2022.[4]

Transport[edit]

Vijayawada Junction railway station, in Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway, has 10 platforms. 343 trains stop at this station and 35 trains originate/ terminate here. It has triple electrified lines.[5]

Healthcare[edit]

Nori Hospital, is a multi-speciality hospital and is amongst the best and oldest children’s hospitals in Vijayawada.[6]
