ProductionEdit
Following the success of the 1987 movies, Jayasimha and Jeevana Jyothi both starring Vishnuvardhan in the lead role, director P.Vasu decided to work on another script for a Kannada movie. Vasu prepared two scripts and decided to direct one while the other was filmed by H. R. Bhargava. R.K.Manik Chand ventured to produce Vasu's film.
Vishnuvardhan was chosen to play the male lead. Geetha and Suparna Anand were signed as heroines. Vijay Anand who worked with Vasu in Jayasimha and Jeevana Jyothi was retained as the music director.
InspirationEdit
The role of Daada played by Dr.Vishnuvardhan in the film showed great similarities to the role Shahenshah played by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1988 film of the same title. Daada is a vigilante with a unique chain-sleeved black suit ; the same dress in which Amitabh appeared in Shahenshah. Daada as an old man has grizzled beard and hair which is the key feature of Shahenshah. Similarly, both Shahenshah and Daada are crime fighting figures.
Apart from that Daada is a movie made in the usual style of P.Vasu - an action film with elements of melodrama and romance.
SoundtrackEdit
The music was composed by Vijay Anand.[2]
