1. Treat all claims seriously
   • Many threats are empty, but leave that evaluation to Bharatpedia emergency contacts and, where needed, the police.
   • If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency services.
2. Contact Bharatpedia emergency
   • Click here to message the emergency team with details of the threat. If your account does not have email enabled, you can email emergencybharatpedia.org directly.
   • These contact methods are for threats of physical harm (including self-harm) only. For other concerns, see Bharatpedia:Contact us.
   • Provide the exact name or URL of the page where you saw the threat, the time that you saw it, and your time zone. Or (if you know how) provide a diff link.
   • This address is monitored around the clock. Staff will typically acknowledge your email immediately. (Check your junk folder.)
     • If you don't hear back within 30 minutes, forward your email to emergencybharatpedia.org.
   • Do not scatter the same report across unrelated mailboxes, as this creates confusion.
   • Where the threat appears genuine, Bharatpedia will preserve the relevant diffs and may contact the appropriate authorities in India.
3. Contact Bharatpedia administrators privately
   • Use email, IRC, or other low-visibility methods, not noticeboards or talk pages.
   • If in doubt, the primary method is to use IRC and join the channel. To do this quickly and using your browser.
   • Alternatively, you may email the oversight team at Template:Oversight email. Even if the threat does not need suppression, oversighters can apply revision deletion and other administrative actions as needed.
   • If you need to find an administrator who is active on Bharatpedia right now, you can use the Recently Active Users tool to locate one.
   • Administrators may contact other administrators using the same steps as above, especially if they need advice on how to respond.

Advice for administrators

• Message the emergency team with details of the threat.
• Threats of suicide or other self-harm require discretion on the question of blocking but generally, specific threats should be removed (with a thoughtfully worded edit summary) and revision deleted, pending oversight.
• Threats against others should be met with blocking (generally including removal of talk page access) and possibly blocking email as well. Such threats should be blanked; consider applying revdel as well.
• Request oversight (suppression) of any post containing personal information.
• Try to be discreet (e.g., stay off high-traffic noticeboards).
