Bansur is a Town and tehsil in Alwar district in Rajasthan, India. In the State Budget, of the fiscal year 2020-21, it has been upgraded to Municipality or Nagar-Palika (नगरपालिका) status. Bansur town is the headquarters of the tehsil by the same name. It belongs to Jaipur Division. It is located 46 km west of the district headquarters Alwar and 117 km south of the state capital Jaipur.[1] Bansur tehsil is a part of the Gurjar-Ahirwal Cultural Region. It is the main educational hub of the area. Many famous colleges and schools are situated here.

The Bansur Fort is also located here which houses an old temple of Manasa Devi. Bansur Tehsil is bounded by Kotputli Tehsil to the west, Behror Tehsil to the north, Umren Tehsil to the east and Alwar Tehsil to the south. Alwar, Neem-Ka-Thana, Narnaul, and Bawal are the nearest cities to Bansur.

It is at an elevation of 289 m.

Alwar, Sariska, Narnaul, Samode (Samode Bagh) and Nuh are nearby tourist destinations.

LanguageEdit

Gurjarwati (the language is called Gujari ), is spoken in Ahirwal region. Here Dundhadi Jaipur region language also reflects. A mix of Dundhadi and Ahirwati language is commonly used. Some influence of Haryanvi is also here.[citation needed]

Rewari, Mahendergarh, Narnaul, Gurgaon, Kotkasim, Kotputli, Bansur, Behror, and Mundawar may be considered as the centre of Ahirwati speaking area.

The nearest major railway station is in Khairthal, 37 km away. The second nearest major railway station is in Alwar 52 km away. Bansur is well connected to Delhi and Jaipur via Kotputli by NH-8. Kotputli is 16 km away from Bansur. Roadways bus service for Kotputli is available from 6:00 am to 8:15 pm. The entry of heavy vehicles is restricted from 6 am to 8 pm in the town.
