image field in infobox isn't rendering. See ISKCON Temple, Jaipur and ISKCON Temple, Patna. @WikiDwarf @GoneForTea Dokania (talk) 17:28, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply

Also, Many parameteres in infobox film isn't working like native name. See, Dhee (Sanskrit Film) Dokania (talk) 17:30, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Template doc might be of help. Dokania (talk) 19:08, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania: The issue has been fixed, and images and coordinates are now rendering correctly. Thank you for reporting the issue. WikiDwarf (talk) 22:48, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply
But many fields like native_name are still not working. See Dhee (Sanskrit Film) Dokania (talk) 22:56, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply
For the native name, please use {{Infobox name module}} instead. The parameter named "preceded by" does not exist, and "production companies" was missing the underscore. I have fixed the infobox. Please review my edit to understand how I used "Infobox name module" within the infobox. WikiDwarf (talk) 23:25, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply

CSD tagging is still not working and Mfd template (in XfD) doesn't render. See Draft:ABDUR-RAHMAN 0.2 @WikiDwarf Dokania (talk) 17:38, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply

Any updates? @WikiDwarf Dokania (talk) 13:23, 2 October 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania: I tried applying a deletion tag to my sandbox using Twinkle, and it worked. Regarding XfD tagging, the templates weren't rendering because there weren't any templates available for that particular process. I can see that some of the templates for MfD and AfD have already been created. Please try it again and let me know if it's working now. If it still isn't, please let me know what error you get when trying to tag pages for deletion. Thank you. WikiDwarf (talk) 14:26, 2 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I tried it on draft, article and my sandbox. It didn't work anywhere. It simply doesn't respond when I click tag. Dokania (talk) 08:21, 3 October 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania: Would it be possible for you to record your screen showing the issue and email the recording to info@bharatpedia.org so I can investigate it? Thank you. WikiDwarf (talk) 11:05, 7 October 2026 (IST)Reply
it wasn't working for me because I had selected notify page author if possible. When that option is selected twinkle doesn't work at all. Dokania (talk) 13:15, 7 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Please set that option to no by default or delete that option if it's never going to work. Unchecking it every time is frustating Dokania (talk) 18:26, 7 October 2026 (IST)Reply
It has been fixed. Please let me know if you encounter any further issues. Some templates on talk pages may still be missing or may not display correctly. If you notice any, we may need to create the missing templates. WikiDwarf (talk) 22:11, 7 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Internet Archive Bot[edit source]

RESOLVED

Now you can archive the links of any article easily using BharatwikiArchiveBot

Is there a bot or tool to automatically add archive org links to references to an article already submitted. Dokania (talk) 21:11, 28 September 2026 (IST)Reply

I have seen it being used on bharatpedia in edit history of some pages. Dokania😎(📩) 20:18, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I am working on this tool. @BharatwikiArchiveBot 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 20:49, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply
What about the tool that was being used before? As seen in edit history. Dokania😎(📩) 20:51, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Bot creation completed successfully. See User:BharatwikiArchiveBot/Requests. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 00:58, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Is there a bareURL bot too? Dokania😎(📩) 07:56, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I can also update the bot Python code to perform this task, but the issue is that it may introduce numerous formatting errors in the reference syntax. We have a prescribed citation format, so why should we allow bare URLs in articles? Bare URLs should be converted into properly formatted references. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 08:13, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I don't understand. You want archive bot to do task of BareURL bot too? This doesn't seem correct way. reFill tool works perfectly without introducing syntax errors why can't there be a bot to fix bareURLs in an article? The BareURL bot does convert bare URLs to prescribed format. Dokania😎(📩) 08:26, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Making bots by python scripts is easy, but deploying it on the cloud for fully automated 24/7 operation costs money. So, the bot I created is hosted on my personal computer to run its functions and work. This is why I didn’t want to create many bots, as I couldn’t find a free cloud service with enough RAM to keep a Python script from your private GitHub running 24/7 nonstop. I first tried using Render, but it became a paid platform, so in the end, I used my PC as the host. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 08:56, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Oh, I thought it is financed by the Bharatpedia org. I think that should be the ideal way rather expecting users to host them on their own. Have you tried streamlit and cloudfare for free hosting? I don't know much about these things though Dokania😎(📩) 09:17, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Nope, I haven’t contacted the tech team for this, and I don’t want to. I’m fine managing this tool on my own. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 09:36, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania This is the GitHub page[1] where the refill tool operates, which you were talking about. Any error on this page can lead to incorrect deployment in the main tool script and cause the tool to display errors. For this tool to work, they likely used an AI API key like Groq, Gemini, or Claude, which pulls data from websites to generate citation titles and other details directly from a bare URL, and these API keys usually come with paid plans.🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 09:11, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I don't think it's based on AI, it's there before AI era (8 years) and it's developed by wikipedia. Dokania😎(📩) 09:18, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I checked about its functionality and find out that it uses Zotero & Citoid web scraping + HTML metadata parsing + rule-based translators' strategy to make this tool work. It's really an interesting tool. So no need of AI API key. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 09:32, 9 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Case sensitive page names[edit source]

When I search for a page, the results do not appear if my input uses a different case (lowercase or uppercase). For example, searching for “BP:Draft” does not show “BP:DRAFT”. This behaviour is different from Wikipedia’s search and is quite inconvenient. Dokania (talk) 10:02, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply

@Dokania: The issues you raised have been fixed. Please check if everything works and let me know if you still face any difficulties. CAPTCHA is also turned off by default once an account reaches autoconfirmed status. Thank you for your time. WikiDwarf (talk) 11:33, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Typeerror issue is resolved automatically.
There is still an issue that “BP:” and “Bharatpedia” are not used interchangeably. For example, if I search for “BP: Help Desk”, nothing is found, so I have to search specifically for “Bharatpedia: Help Desk”. Dokania (talk) 16:36, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
It has been fixed. Thank you for pointing out. WikiDwarf (talk) 22:44, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
It's fixed for most of the pages but not working for recently moved pages in search suggestions. For example try searching for Ram rajya Parishad or Ram Rajya Parisha for Ram Rajya Parishad or NaNnuka for Nannuka, while you can easily search DhONI Dokania😎(📩) 20:16, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Captcha issue has come down but it still bothers me sometime. It's not really OFF. I believe it should be off for registered users. Dokania😎(📩) 20:20, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Citoid[edit source]

Would it be possible to add Citoid support to BharatPedia? Citoid is the feature in Wikipedia's VisualEditor that automatically generates citations from URLs and similar sources. Manually adding citations every time is quite tedious. Dokania (talk) 16:38, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply

@Dokania: Citoid for VisualEditor is still being worked on. Meanwhile I have successfully created and enabled RefToolbar on Bharatpedia. It is the Cite tool, and does more than Citoid's automatic URL fill: citation templates, named references, and a basic error check.
How to use it
  1. Open the article in source edit (not VisualEditor).
  2. In the toolbar, open Cite.
  3. Choose Templates → web, news, book, or journal.
  4. Paste a URL (or ISBN / DOI / PMID) and click the magnifying-glass icon to autofill. Check the fields, then click Insert.
  5. Named references reuses a <ref>...</ref> already on the page. Error check looks for common citation problems.
Autofill is not perfect on every website; please review the generated template before saving. If you find any bug or issue (Cite button missing, autofill not filling, wrong template, etc.), please let me know with the article title, your browser, and what you clicked so I can fix it. WikiDwarf (talk) 22:34, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Citoid is available in Visual editor now but it's not working. Same links are working in citoid of wikipedia Dokania (talk) 08:35, 27 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Can we somehow get reFill to work in Visual editing? I think that would solve the problem. Just having an error everytime someone tries to cite something shouldn't be continued. Dokania😎(📩) 17:52, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Import Articles from Wikipedia[edit source]

Can we import articles in bulk from Wikipedia? I want articles of Indian politics, Indian film industry and specifically Sanskrit related pages. We can then improve those articles here. Dokania (talk) 16:40, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply

Yes, Wikipedia content can generally be reused because it is released under an open licence, but bulk importing should preserve the required attribution/licensing information. It would also be better to import selected articles rather than entire categories, and then independently review and improve them using reliable sources. Political and living-person articles should receive particular attention to sourcing and neutrality. Editorial Oversight(Talk with me) 17:21, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
As Editorial Oversight said above, reusing Wikipedia content is generally allowed. However, it is generally requested and expected that, rather than directly importing articles, contributors rewrite the content in their own language and post it here. The same applies to articles that have already been imported. Those articles should be rewritten in our own language rather than simply being left as direct copies of Wikipedia content.
We can certainly use Wikipedia as a starting point, including for topics such as Indian politics, the Indian film industry, and Sanskrit-related subjects, but the aim should be to develop the content into Bharatpedia articles through rewriting, independent sourcing, and improvement.
Also, please note that the mass import feature is not enabled on Bharatpedia, so bulk importing articles from Wikipedia is currently not available. Articles would need to be worked on individually and rewritten appropriately. WikiDwarf (talk) 17:56, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
I think importing entire categories is beneficial because encyclopedia works on web of links. Otherwise articles will show more red links than blue links. Also, It gives us a list of articles in bharatpedia itself to work upon. Dokania (talk) 19:08, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
I agree that importing a broader set of related articles could help build the internal link network and provide editors with a useful list of articles to improve. However, since the mass-import feature is currently unavailable, perhaps we could start with a selected group of closely related articles and rewrite them as we go. This would also help ensure proper attribution, reliable sourcing, and Bharatpedia-specific improvements while gradually expanding the coverage. Editorial Oversight(Talk with me) 20:39, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Manually adding articles can be very cumbersome. For example, see List of Hindi films of 2025, There are too many red links. Is it practical to add so many articles manually? Dokania (talk) 21:52, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Yeah that manually creating hundreds of related articles would be cumbersome, especially for large film lists. Perhaps we could explore whether a technical import tool or a controlled batch-import process could be enabled in the future, with attribution preserved and imported articles placed in a review/rewrite workflow. Until then, we could prioritize the most notable or frequently linked articles rather than trying to create everything manually at once. Editorial Oversight(Talk with me) 22:40, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Can you turn on mass import feature? There comes too many red links when importing a list article manually. Dokania (talk) 13:47, 2 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Anti-Abuse error[edit source]

I am getting this error while making edits

As an anti-abuse measure, you are limited from performing this action too many times in a short space of time, and you have exceeded this limit. Please try again in a few minutes. Dokania (talk) 23:30, 24 September 2026 (IST)Reply

The abuse log appears to be clean and shows no results, so this may be a rate-limit or throttling issue rather than an abuse-filter violation. It might be worth checking the server/error logs or the specific filter/action that is triggering the message. Editorial Oversight(Talk with me) 00:40, 25 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Yes, It seems to be some kind of rate limit. It happens when editing more than one articles within a few minutes span. Dokania (talk) 08:47, 25 September 2026 (IST)Reply
Editorial Oversight is right above. The message is coming from MediaWiki's normal anti-abuse rate limit, rather than an AbuseFilter violation. Your account was created on 22 September 2026 and currently has 28 edits. New accounts are temporarily subject to a lower editing rate limit of 8 edits per minute until they become autoconfirmed. Once the account reaches the required age, you should automatically receive autoconfirmed status, assuming the normal account requirements are met. You therefore don't need to change anything on your side. The restriction should disappear automatically once the account qualifies for autoconfirmed status. WikiDwarf (talk) 09:53, 25 September 2026 (IST)Reply
But It was just my second edit in the same minute or perhaps not even in that minute. Will my get auto confirmed in few days? Dokania (talk) 10:50, 25 September 2026 (IST)Reply

Pages to fix[edit source]

Special:DeadendPages

@Ajay Kumar @WikiDwarf Dokania (talk) 21:19, 25 September 2026 (IST)Reply

Double and broken redirects got fixed.[2]. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 20:13, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Shouldn't there be a script to automatically fix Double redirects and give one click fix access for other issues like broken redirects? Dokania😎(📩) 20:17, 8 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Currently, Special:WantedPages and other such "Special:Wanted" are locked for admin only view. It is not the case on Wikipedia and I don't see any good reason for it to happen here. It would be useful for decising which pages are needed. Other such pages like Special:Most-wanted articles and Special: Requested articles would also be appreciated.

New tool: UserStats[edit source]

Hello everyone! A new gadget UserStats is now live and enabled by default for all users. It shows an interactive statistics dashboard for any user.

How to use:

  • Visit Bharatpedia:User statistics and enter any username
  • To check manually via direct link (Bharatpedia:User statistics/username). However, it is not recommended.
  • Click the new "User stats" link in the footer of any contributions page.
  • Click "User stats" in the Tools menu on any page, or in the mobile menu (see screenshot), opens as a dialog

What it shows:

  • Stat cards: registration date, total edits, mainspace edits, minor edits, edits/day, bytes added/removed
  • Overview tab: namespace breakdown, edit tags, most edited pages, first edit date, reverted edits, block history
  • Activity tab: monthly activity chart and hourly editing heatmap
  • Recent tab: latest 20 edits with links to contributions and user page

Note: If you cannot see the new links or features yet or the search bar is unresponsive, it is a browser cache issue. It will update automatically within about 4 hours, or you can clear your browser cache manually to see it right away.

Feedback and feature requests welcome. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 13:45, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Very helpful. As I said earlier, we need list of such tools and bots. Dokania😎(📩) 15:37, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Great job! This looks really useful, and the features are working well so far. Thanks for putting in the effort to build and implement this. I'll test it thoroughly soon and share any feedback or suggestions. Well done! WikiDwarf (talk) 18:24, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

New gadget: Citation generator[edit source]

The Citation generator gadget: paste a URL and get a ready-to-paste

I've built a new gadget: Citation generator (enabled by default for everyone).

Paste any URL and it automatically pulls the title, author, date and other details, detects the source type like web page, book, journal article or news (you can change it manually) and builds a proper <ref>{{cite...}}</ref> ready to copy into articles.

There are also dedicated fields to add the page number and a quote manually.

Try it here: Bharatpedia:Citation generator

Feedback and suggestions welcome! 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 17:28, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Note- Clear your browser cache to use this tool. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 17:35, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I am sorry but why was it needed when we already had reFill which works better. See refill[1] and citation generator[2] difference without any manual changes. Also, We need citation tool in editing page not separately, right? Dokania😎(📩) 17:55, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania I have fixed the bug in ref formatting. You can verify after clearing your past cache of browser. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 18:20, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply
If you can get Citation generator to visual editing then it would be useful. Dokania😎(📩) 18:22, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

My confusion remains the same after this reply. Anyways, can you get refill to work in visual editing somehow? Dokania😎(📩) 18:02, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply
My intention in creating this reference generator is to help novice editors who have no knowledge of reference formatting and editing, so they can easily use this page. Yes, it is possible to enable refill in the visual editor, but since I did not create it, I will not work on it. I have many projects and tools pending in my mind. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 18:24, 15 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Tool for automatic tagging of G13 articles[edit source]

New gadget: Bare reference fixer[edit source]

Hi all,

I've built a new gadget: Bare reference fixer a tool page that scans an article for bare-URL references, converts them to formatted citations, and lets you review each fix before publishing.

How it works:

  • Go to Bharatpedia:Bare reference fixer
  • Enter an article title and click "Scan article"
  • Review the proposed fixes (checkboxes to include/exclude)
  • Click "Publish changes" to save under your own account, or "Discard" to cancel

It strips tracking parameters (fbclid, utm_*) from URLs, reuses named references for duplicate URLs, and leaves references unchanged when no citation data is available.

The gadget is enabled by default for all users. Feedback welcome! 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 06:34, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Not working correctly [See https://en.bharatpedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Asahaya&diff=prev&oldid=567755] Dokania😎(📩) 07:19, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Will check soon. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 07:29, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Is there a way to easily find bare link articles? Dokania😎(📩) 07:40, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
@Dokania I have checked the issue, it is not any functional problem associated with bot. Everything is fine and the bot is working on both article and draft. Actual reason is that you've tried to fetch data from scribd.com website which is protected. Even refill citoid will create the same ref of those scribd.com url as created by my bot. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 07:46, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
You're right but it should use search suggestions to add articles easily. Dokania😎(📩) 07:50, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
It is very unclear what you're trying to say. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 08:06, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
As you search in the bharatpedia searchbar on top, search suggestions come. Similarly search suggestions should be visible in bare reference fixer as manually exact name matching is hard. Dokania😎(📩) 08:32, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
As requested, search suggestion feature is fetched successfully in the bot. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 09:51, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Is making it an automated bot a bad idea like Bharatwikiarchive bot? Dokania😎(📩) 10:54, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
The Internet Archive bot requires archive.com API keys and a bot flag, making it a sensitive setup and need deployment. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 11:00, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I mean to ask can it be made automatic like Archive bot. It's currently semi-automatic and thus time taking Dokania😎(📩) 11:02, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
The Internet Archive API keys, S3_ACCESS_KEY and S3_SECRET_KEY, should not be publicly pasted into a MediaWiki file, as this could lead to the bot's API key being exhausted and causing a crash. One option for deployment is using cloud services like Render, though these are paid. Alternatively, the keys can be securely stored on your desktop and deployed from there. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 11:10, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I mean Can you input multiple articles at once in Bare reference fixer and set it on automatic instead of manually giving permission? Dokania😎(📩) 11:26, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Reference review is required, and in bulk it becomes very complicated for users to review before publishing. The bare reference fixer is working perfectly, and your requested update is unnecessary. Human intervention via review of bot work is required, which is what our policy BP:AI states. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 11:35, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I can understand why it's required but It doesn't require AI. How come it comes under AI policy? Dokania😎(📩) 11:38, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Currently, we don’t have a separate bot policy, and Bharatpedia:Bots is an empty page. Therefore, they fall under BP:AI; see BP:AIBOT rules. 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 11:47, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
As you say Dokania😎(📩) 11:51, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
I think it should also have option to fix incorrectly generated references. A good example is Draft:Hacktivist Vanguard Dokania😎(📩) 19:38, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
Now, bot can fix malformed ref, as it did here Draft:Hacktivist Vanguard 🍁Bharatwiki Socrates🍁(📩) 22:18, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply

Banned domains[edit source]

Many domains are banned including archive.today, youtu.be and such among other which don't let an edit be published due to spam filter. I have to remove the url for it which makes the reference unverifiable which is problematic. Dokania😎(📩) 19:08, 16 October 2026 (IST)Reply
