Prashant Tripathi, known as Acharya Prashant, is an Indian spiritual leader, philosopher, author, and poet.[1] He conducts live Gita sessions both offline and online, where he teaches seventeen forms of Gita and sixty forms of Upanishads with eastern and western philosophy and religion.[2][3] He is the founder of a not-for-profit organization named PrashantAdvait Foundation,[4] and is an Animal Rights Activist.[5]
Early life and education[edit | edit source]
Prashant received his B.Tech from IIT Delhi and later did his Post Graduation in Management from IIM Ahmedabad in 2003.[6] He also cleared the Indian Civil Services Examination but chose not to pursue a career in the civil services, later becoming a teacher of Vedanta and an author.[7]
PrashantAdvait Foundation[edit | edit source]
Acharya Prashant founded the PrashantAdvait Foundation (PAF), a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing a scientific attitude and lived wisdom into daily life.[8] Registered as a non-profit in December 2015, the foundation grew from a small volunteer-driven outfit in Greater Noida into a global force touching millions of lives.[9] The foundation operates under the vision of "Creation of a new humanity through Intelligent Spirituality," emphasising critical inquiry over blind faith and real-world application over ritualistic practice.[9]
At the heart of PAF's work sits the Gita Mission, described as arguably the world's largest structured programme for the study of wisdom literature.[9] The programme includes over 150,000 enrolled students from more than 100 countries, monthly live sessions, and over 2,500 hours of recorded discourse.[9] In 2024, the foundation conducted the largest online Gita-based examination, with more than 100,000 participants.[10][11] The foundation also organises public dialogues and sessions across India.[12]
Awards and recognitions[edit | edit source]
In April 2025, Acharya Prashant was honoured with the 'Outstanding Contribution to National Development' (OCND) Award by the IIT Delhi Alumni Association for his efforts in advancing spiritual wisdom and fostering national consciousness through his teachings, books, and large-scale initiatives.[13][10]
On World Environment Day in June 2025, he was conferred the 'Most Impactful Environmentalist' award by the Green Society of India for his contribution in "integrating spiritual clarity with environmental awareness" and for "inspiring millions to adopt a more sustainable way of life."[14] The PrashantAdvait Foundation was also honoured with the "Best Animal Welfare Organisation" award in June 2025.[15]
With over 50 million subscribers, Acharya Prashant was the most followed spiritual teacher globally on YouTube in 2024.[16][17] As of late 2025, his digital reach was reported at over 80 million followers across platforms, with over 64 million on YouTube alone.[18]
Poetry[edit | edit source]
Acharya Prashant’s poetic work is mainly expressed through his simple poetic translations of the verses of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
He has also written poems on deep and sensitive aspects of life, compiled in a book called Raat Aur Chaand (Night and the Moon).[19]
A few poems from the book "Raat Aur Chaand":
- Sone Ka Haq
- Jab Geet Na Arpit Kar Pao
