The 1983 Lalru bus massacre was a massacre of 38 Hindus by the Khalistan Commando Force on a bus in Lalru India.

Massacre[edit]

On 6 July 1987, A bus (HYE 1735) belonging to the Haryana Roadway company departed from Chandigarh carrying between 75-79 Hindus traveling to Rishikesh. Around 10 PM a Fiat car pulled out in front of the bus. Four gunmen then surrounded the bus, entered it, and pointed a gun at the bus driver and guided the bus into an open field. The Gunmen, belonging to the Khalistan Commando Force, a Sikh militant organization demanded that the passengers hand over their valuables. After looting the passengers the Gunmen demanded the passengers huddle in the middle of the bus. The Gunmen were now on both sides of the bus and then open fired from both sides. One militant identified as Gurmit Singh was killed in the crossfire. Another, identified as Aadharsh Iaco Rajkumar had been missing for 7 months before being declared dead. By the end of the massacre, 38 people had been killed and 33 others were injured.[1][2][3][4]
