Sunrisers Hyderabad finished in third place in the league stage, and advanced to Eliminator in the playoffs. However, they lost to Rajasthan Royals in Eliminator. Heinrich Klaasen scored the most runs (624) while Eshan Malinga took the most wickets (20) for Hyderabad in the 2026 season.

Pre-season[edit | edit source]

The 2026 Indian Premier League was the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league held in India, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).[5] Sunrisers Hyderabad had previously won the title once in 2016.[6] The team finished in sixth place in the previous season.[7] The tournament featured ten teams competing in 74 matches from 28 March to 31 May 2026.[8][9][10] Hyderabad played all of their home matches at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.[11]

Player retention[edit | edit source]

Franchises were allowed to retain any number of players from their squad,[12] including traded players while excluding players signed as temporary replacements.[13] Franchises were required to submit their retention lists before 15 November 2025.[14] Hyderabad retained fifteen players, including captain Pat Cummins.[15][16][17] Hyderabad also traded Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants.[18]
