Tanakpur railway station is a small railway station in Champawat district, Uttarakhand. Its code is TPU. It serves Tanakpur city. Tanakpur Now Broad gauge. The platform is well sheltered. It many facilities including water and sanitation.[1][2][failed verification] It is the terminus of the line in Eastern Uttarakhand.[3]
Due to the steep slope of the line in that region, a train rolled backwards uncontrolled for 35 km after a brake failure, but was stopped at Khatima by putting sand on the tracks.[4]

- Purnagiri Temple is located at an altitude of 5500 feet on the Annapurna peak in Tanakpur, Uttarakhand province of India. It is one of the 108 Siddha Peethas. This place is considered to be the back of Mahakali. It is said that the navel of Sati, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati and the Ardhangini Sati of Shiva, fell here from the Vishnu Chakra. Faithful devotees visit this Shakti Peetha every year and also come here after suffering.
