Joh (pronounced jooh) is a village located in Una district, in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh. Joh's population was 851 as of 2011, of which 416 are male and 435 are female.[1] Most of the residents today are farmers. The village is located on a 585 m hill, 8 km from Dalautpur town. The village is also near Pong Dam, Chintpurni temple, It contains four villages: Saloh, Pirthipur, Beh,Sikri,gindpur malon,saloh beri, saddani,and Marwari.
G It is believed that, before 1002, no one lived at the location. In 1002, a famine occurred in Ramsar Tehsil, Barmaer, Rajasthan. A Mewari Bhramin family and a tribal family then moved into the area in search of food, water and shelter, and founded the municipality.

The famous dishes of Redo and Dham come from this area.
The entire community this village and surrounding areas consisting of 4–5 villages i.e. Saloh, Pirthipur, Dangoh, Gangret, Maloun, and Gindpur, have matching Dogri language and culture. Prior to written history, the people of Joh were nomadic and traveled with sheep, goats, and cattle eventually settled after the planting of maize and wheat.

Politician Rajkumar Sharma has developed a sizable amount of land in the area.
Nowadays population of monkeys is increasing day by day. All the land in village is lying idle as there is no irrigation system in place and monkeys are destroying the crops.
MANREGA, NAREGA and what not else schemes are in full force. you cannot expect a labour from the village to work for you. They are sitting idle while working under these schemes.
Majority of the people are dependent on ration being supplied by ration depots. Flour / wheat / rice are available at Rs. 8.50 / 2.50 and Rs. 10 per kg. in abundance. while price of fodder for cattle is Rs. 8 kg and khali is available at Rs. 18 per kg. People prefer to feed their cattle with ration material easily available under the PDS.
Most of the land is idle and that is quite reasonable. If one is getting Rs. 8.50 per kgs. wheat and Rs. 10 per kg rice then why should he put labour, plough his field and wait for six months to cut the crop that is dependent on rain water only.
Roads are being made in the villages just to sell the motorcycles and scooters to these rural people on installments and what not.
Capitalists are very concerned with the development of villages while they are recruiting people in their factories through contractors on contractual labour.
