Avantika Vandanapu is an American actress, dancer, singer, and model. She has worked in several Indian movies and commercials, and is starring in the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie Spin. She was the second winner of the Zee TV reality show Dance India Dance Lil Masters North America.
Career
Avantika started her artistic career through dancing when she was five years old. She initially started taking classes in semi-classical dance. Later, she started learning the South Indian classical dance form, Kuchipudi, at the age of 7. Avantika participated in several dance shows and competitions and was first awarded by ATA Star Dancer in 2012. In 2014, Avantika also won second place in Dance India Dance Lil Masters.[1][2][3][4][5]
Avantika entered the Telugu film industry in 2015 and signed on for two movies. She was selected to play the role of Chutki in 14 Reels Entertainment's Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha (released in February 2016). However, due to the scheduling conflicts, she could not continue with the movie. Avantika officially debuted as a child artist in Brahmotsavam starring Mahesh Babu, Kajal Agarwal, Samantha and Pranitha which started shooting on 16 September 2015. She then appeared in Chandra Shekhar Yeleti's film Manamantha. Later, she signed on for Premam starring Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Hassan, in which she portrays the younger version of Madonna Sebastian.
Avantika started her hollywood career in 2018 and signed up with major networks in the USA soon after in different TV shows playing major roles. Avantika is the breakout star of Disney's Original Movie 'Spin', premiering on the Disney Channel and then on Disney+. The film follows an Indian American teen, who discovers her artistic side through the unique world of DJ culture and learns she has a passion for creating mixes that blend the textures of her Indian heritage and the world around her while living with her multi-generational family. She also appears as a recurring star on Disney +'s groundbreaking Diary of a Future President (produced by Gina Rodriguez) and voices 'Kamala' on Disney Channel's Mira, Royal Detective.
