Eurosport is an Indian sports channel, launched as DSport by Discovery Asia-Pacific on 6 February 2017.[1] Eurosport telecasts a wide range of leagues and events from Discovery's European channel Eurosport. In January 2020, Lex Sportel (the content provider for this channel) has parted ways with Discovery, taking their event rights from this channel and created their own channel 1Sports.[2] On 17 March 2020, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting permitted Discovery to finally rename the channel to Eurosport.[3]

History

Eurosport India is the Indian version of the channel launched in February 2017 as DSport.[4] It was made available on major DTH platforms and cable networks across India during the launch. The channel's primary focus would not be cricket, as per the press-meet at the launch.[5] The current offering from the channel would include less-popular football leagues, cricket premier leagues, wrestling, fighting, golf, motor sports, horse racing, cycling and rugby. The channel is only available in high-definition format. However, few DTH operators downscale the feed to be presented with the standard-definition bouquet. As of 2018 Eurosport India is available over 110 million households in India.
