Motipur is a town and a notified area in Muzaffarpur district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Motipur is located in the northern part of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. The town is situated within the regional road and railway network connecting Muzaffarpur, Mehsi, Motihari.
The Budhi Gandak flows beside the town. The river is an important river of northern Bihar and flows through the wider Muzaffarpur and East Champaran region.

Motipur is connected by road and rail with other parts of northern Bihar. Motipur railway station is situated on the Muzaffarpur–Gorakhpur main line.
The road network provides connections towards Muzaffarpur, Mehsi, Motihari. The National Highways Authority of India identifies the NH 27 section between Kotwa (Motihari), Mehsi and Muzaffarpur as an 80-kilometre highway section, from km 440.000 to km 520.000.[1]
