The film enjoyed box office success, with many cinemas running it for over 100 days.<ref>{{Cite news |work=[[The Hindu]] |url=http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/thscrip/print.pl?file=2006010801080200.htm&date=2006/01/08/&prd=th&|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070504101528/http://www.hinduonnet.com/thehindu/thscrip/print.pl?file=2006010801080200.htm&date=2006/01/08/&prd=th&|url-status=usurped|archive-date=4 May 2007|title=The message is unclear in 'Mandya' |first=K.N. |last=Venkattasubba Rao|date=8 January 2006}}</ref>
The dialogue "Naan convent alli odi police agiddalla. Corporation school alli odi police aagiddu" (Means, "I have not become a police officer by studying in the convent, I am a police officer who studied in corporation school"), became very popular in the whole of Karnataka and could be heard from Darshan's fans for many days. The film has some very exciting scenes, such as the one where the police commissioner describes Ayya as a one-man army, which is more powerful than the nuclear bomb . The film also a scene where he intelligently kills some of the villains showing that Ayya is not only a brave police officer, but also a very, very intelligent and brainy person.
