The next Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to be held in or before November 2023 to elect all 230 members of the state's Legislative Assembly.[1][2][3][4] Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to be the incumbent chief minister at the time of the election.

Background

Kamal Nath won the previous state assembly election but in March 2020, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with 22 Congress MLAs, defected to the BJP. This resulted in the toppling of the Kamal Nath ministry and the ascendancy of Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government.
