Sir Meidingngu Churachand (Meitei: ꯁꯥꯔ ꯃꯩꯗꯤꯡꯉꯨ ꯆꯨꯔꯆꯥꯟꯗ; KCSI CBE), also known as Churachandra or Chura Chand (Meitei: ꯆꯨꯔꯆꯥꯟꯗ)[1] (1886–1941), was the ruler of Manipur kingdom. He is the successor of King Kulachandra. He was a 5-year-old boy when he was placed on the throne on 22 September 1891, after the troubles of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.[2] In 1907, he was formally declared king, after completing education at Mayo College.[1]
He received the title of Maharaja in 1918 and was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India in the 1934 New Year Honours, becoming Sir Churachandra Singh.[3]
