Chittoor district was initially formed in 1911.  At the time of Indian independence in 1947, Chittoor district was a part of the erstwhile Madras state. In the fifties Chittor district was a part of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh state and went through several changes. In 1985, the taluks of the district were reorganised. The primary and secondary school education is delivered by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state. The languages of instruction followed by different schools are Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and English.
