Yashasvi Solanki is an officer of the Indian Navy holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In 2025, she was appointed an aide-de-camp (ADC) to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, becoming the first woman officer from the Indian Navy to hold the appointment. She was also the first woman officer to serve as an ADC to the President from the Indian Armed Forces.[1][2]
Early life[edit | edit source]
Solanki is from Haryana. During her school years, she participated in badminton and volleyball and competed at the district level in the two sports.[1][2]

Solanki joined the Indian Navy in 2012 through the Short Service Commission. She served in the Navy's Logistics Branch.[1]
Before her appointment as the President's ADC, Solanki was posted in Hyderabad with the Naval Armament division under Naval Armament (Defence Production). She served as a technical officer in that assignment.[2]
Aide-de-camp to the President[edit | edit source]
In April 2025, Solanki was selected for appointment as an ADC to President Droupadi Murmu. The selection process included a panel of three women naval officers, who underwent an assessment at the Presidential Estate. The officers were assessed on physical criteria, basic intelligence and adaptability, and were interviewed by the President.[2]
Following her selection, Solanki underwent an orientation programme before taking up her responsibilities as an ADC in May 2025.[1][2]
Her appointment made her the first woman officer from the Indian Navy to serve as an ADC to the President. The President's ADC establishment generally consists of five officers: three from the Army and one each from the Navy and Air Force.[1][3]
The ADC assists the President with official engagements, protocol and ceremonial functions and facilitates communication and coordination between the President and government and military establishments. The duties also include assisting with official meetings, appointments and the President's daily programme.[1][2]
Solanki's appointment was followed in 2026 by the appointment of Major Navya Shekhawat as the first woman officer from the Indian Army to serve as an ADC to the President.[4]
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Solanki is the first member of her family to join the defence forces. Her elder sister and younger brother pursued business management.[2]
