Why was Yamkeshwar named Yamkeshwar?[edit]
There was a terrible war between Lord Shankar and Yamraj. After that Yamraj was defeated and fell at the feet of Lord Shankar and started apologizing. In the end, pleased with the praise of Yamraj, Lord Shankar said to Yamraj that you should not go to the place where Mrityunjaya is chanted, at the place where you are standing, the idol of my self-styled linga has arisen, you should worship it. This idol will be famous only by your name, whoever worships this Shivling, even the biggest death, and premature death will not come close to him, that is why the name Yamkeshwar[5] was named after {Yam} Yamraj and {Ishwar} Lord Shankar.[6]
