Vyjayanthi Movies is an Indian Film production company established in 1972, by Chalasani Ashwini Dutt. It is one of the biggest film production houses in Tollywood and is credited with producing some of the most iconic films in Telugu cinema.
Initial years and logo[edit]
Vyjayanthi Movies has commenced film production under the proprietorship of Chalasani Ashwini Dutt with 1974's successful film O Seetha Katha. The company was named by NTR. Also, the logo of the production house contains the image of NTR in the attire of Sri Krishna with a Shankha in his hand and the Earth behind him. They went on to make films with actors of Telugu cinema like NTR, ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Chiranjeevi and Krishnam Raju. Many of the films that were made by Vyjayanthi Movies were directed by K. Bapaiah and K. Raghavendra Rao.
Films and success[edit]
Vyjayanthi Movies produced several Telugu films like Agni Parvatam, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, Indra which were very successful at the box-office. Vyjayanthi Movies introduced popular actors like jr ntr, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Nara Rohit to the Telugu cinema.
Three Angels Studio[edit]
Chalasani Ashwini Dutt's second daughter, Priyanka Chalasani Dutt, launched a new production house named Three Angels Studio, in 2008.[1] She produced her first film, Baanam, through this company and introduced Nara Rohit to Telugu Cinema. The film was critically acclaimed, but did not do well at the box office. She then produced the anthology, Om Shanti, which was released in 2010. It had Nikhil Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, and Navdeep in the lead roles.
Swapna Cinema[edit]
In 2014, Chalasani Ashwini Dutt's elder daughter, Swapna Dutt, inherited Swapna Cinema from her father. Under this banner, Swapna and her sister, Priyanka Dutt, produced Yevade Subramanyam. This was a big success story at the box office in 2015. In 2018, this banner produced a biopic on the late actress, Savitri. The biopic, titled as Mahanati, had Keerthi Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Vijay Devarakonda in the lead roles. It was critically acclaimed and highly successful at the box office.
