Vijayakirti


Vijayakirti, Vijayamati or Shobhamati also spelled as Vijayakirti or Gaudeshwari was the princess of the Sayyid dynasty, later kidnapped by the Gauda king, Shashanka and became his wife. Manava was her son who ruled between 625- 626 CE. Anyway, she is the given the name, Shobha, and later results her to Queen Shobhamati. Her story is a literature from the birth by her illegal marriage but fortunately, she accepted Shashanka but after his death, she married one of the Pallava kings, leaving her adult son, Manava.

Some stories are very casual about this queen, but legally meant as a queen of Shashanka and one of the legal queens in History. She is the maiden of the fairest complexion whom Shashanka mentioned in the Pali texts abducted the daughter of the Sayyid king, his name is not revealed in texts or manuscripts. Shashanka later married her in the kingdom of Gauda. She is also spelled by the name, Vijaya as this name is not her name but a revealed name for her, entitled by Shashanka. She is described wearing a pearl necklace designed with a natha (nose ring).
