Lieutenant General Vijay Kumar Ahluwalia PVSM, AVSM**, YSM, VSM, is retired Indian Army officer who last served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army's Central Command.[1] In the army, he served as a helicopter pilot and led the introduction of Bofors artillery weapons. Following his retirement, he was appointed as a member of the Armed Forces Tribunal for four years. Currently, he is the Director of the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) in New Delhi. He wrote a book, "Red Revolution 2020 and Beyond: Strategic Challenges to Resolve Naxalism" based on his doctoral dissertation.[2]Academically inclined, General Ahluwalia completed his Ph.D on ‘Internal Security and Conflict Resolution’. He has delivered talks at national and global level on subjects such as geo-politics and international relations, global security landscape, essence of the armed forces and nation building, Leadership in military and corporate world, current regional cum conservation of environment issues. He has authored a book titled ‘Red Revolution 2020 and beyond’ and has authored and co-edited three books: on Surprise, Strategy and Vijay, 20 Years of Kargil and Beyond, COVID-19 & its Challenges: Is India Future Ready? , and the Bangladesh Liberation @50 Years, Bijoy with Synergy. He is a Management Trustee of the Delhi Cheshire Home (DCH), an independent director, and a mentor to Colonel Gautam Academy, to empower the youth.
