Varakkal Devi Temple is one of the famous Devi temples in Kozhikode Dt of Kerala. The main deity of the temple is Durga Devi (Bhagawathy). The temple also has sub deities of Ganapati, Dakshinamoorthy and Sree Ayyappan.
LocationEdit
The temple is located on a hilltop near to West Hill, Kozhikode near west hill railway station. It is located near the Bhat Road beach.
Festival and RitesEdit
The main festival of the temple is Vavu Bali, devotees gather in large numbers for Thulam Vavu for performing Bali Tharpanam on varkkal beach. Navaratri: The festival of Navaratri is also celebrated in a big way in the temple. Mahanivedam is the most important ritual of the temple, pushpanjali, padivilaku, naivilakku, thrikalpooja, swayamvara pushpanjali, santhana gopala pooja, ganapathy homam, thila homam are the other offerings. There will be exhibition and other celebrations on the Navarathti day.
