Vaidehi Taman is an Indian journalist, editor, ethical hacker, philanthropist, and author. Taman is the founder and editor of Afternoon Voice and The Democracy and has been awarded several accolades, including the ‘Best Journalist-Newspaper Association of India’ and the iCONGO Karmaveer Chakra Award for her philanthropic initiatives. She is also accredited by the government of Maharashtra.

Early life and education[edit]

Taman was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Following her interest in politics and public administration, she completed her BA in Political Science from Nagpur University, Thereafter, she studied law at Nagpur University. Vaidehi recently completed another degree in International Law from the International Business Management Institute, Berlin, in 2021.

Career[edit]

Taman is the founder and editor-in-chief of the Afternoon Voice, an English daily that covers local, national, and international news, as well as business, sports, editorial, and entertainment news.[1] The platform also helps people to express their opinions without any fear. Vaidehi, as a journalist, believes in keeping the masses updated through her unbiased reporting.[2] Her newspaper is a vocational training medium for aspiring journalists and an open platform for citizen journalists.[3]

Taman also launched a free internship and training programme for aspiring journalists in light of the pandemic situation. Besides, she is an EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker, a Certified Security Analyst, and a Licensed Penetration Tester.[4] Viadehi has been bestowed with three honorary doctorates in journalism for her commendable work as an investigative journalist. In the past, she has worked with several major media houses, including The Times of India, Free Press Journal, and Sunday Observer, to name a few.[5]

Taman is also an entrepreneur who runs Vaidehee Aesthetics & Wellness, Hair and skin clinic. She has also launched Mumbai Manoos, a Marathi daily of Mumbai.[6]

Vaidehi Taman is also Maharashtra State Secretary of the Newspaper Association of India.[7]

Books[edit]

Taman is also the author of several books, which include "The Abused," "Sheriff of Mumbai," and "Mujhe Mera Kaam Karne Do." Her latest book is ‘Sikhism vs Sickism', which talks about the plight of Sikhs across the globe, with a major focus on India.[8]

Awards and certifications[edit]

Taman has received many accolades and recognition for her contributions in the journalism sphere. Some of her achievements include the ‘Best Editor-NAI Award’; "Pratibha Samman Award", and the "Pillar of Hindustan Society by Trans Asia Chamber."She recently received the ‘Lord Beden Powell National Award’ as the best journalist. Vaidehi is also a recipient of the iCONGO Karmaveer Chakra for her philanthropic work. She is also featured in India’s Outstanding Women Mediapersons by the Newspaper Association of India.[9]
