Mr. Prithviraj Saremal Kothari is a renowned name in the Bullion Industry. He has been instrumental in the development of the bullion market in India. Mr. Kothari has been in the family business of gold trading for over 45 years and counting.

He has given some crucial advice to the Indian Government in helping them to make the bullion markets more organized. He has been the pioneer in introducing 'Instant International price based INR denominated bullion trading in India.

He has played a vital role in the introduction of gold ETFs / Silver ETFs  in India. He has been instrumental in introducing and operationalising India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) in Gift City, Gujarat which is India’s Domestic Gold Spot Exchange. Under his vision, RSBL has successfully launched India's first and only electronic over the counter bullion trading system, RSBL SPOT.

He is the Chairman of Jain International Trade Organisation,Mumbai Zone, (JITO) an organisation promoting trade and welfare amongst its community members. He is the President of Bhinmal welfare association and Vice - President of Mohankheda Tirth. He was the past chairman of JITO Administrative Training Foundation (JATF) for the period 2019 - 2021.

He has been felicitated with the prestigious Jain Ratna award twice, once by Honourable President of India, Smt. Pratibhadevi Patil on 13th March, 2012 and second time by Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Prithviraj Chauhan on 23rd April, 2013 for contributing remarkably towards the well being and upbringing of the Jain fraternity.

Not taking away his ever increasing achievements, he is not an ordinary Bullion Man or a dealer; he is an Entrepreneur who wants to revolutionize the Bullion Industry. Jewellers & Bullion dealers only trade in Bullion but Mr. Kothari believes in turning one's dream of owning bullion with the best price in the Industry.

He was appointed as National president of 101 year old association, India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) in 2019 for a tenure of 5 years (2019 – 2024).

He has in-depth knowledge of the Gold ecosystem. He is one of the key people for giving ideas about Gold Monetization Scheme (GMS) and sovereign gold bond (SGB). He is on the product advisory committee of MCX, NSE and BSE. He represents the Government on behalf of IBJA for all national issues related to Gold. He was a key person to get IBJA gold benchmark rates approved by the Reserve Bank of India and Ministry of Finance. Currently no bank can lend money against gold jewellery except on IBJA rates as per various notifications of Reserve Bank of India. Further, as per Govt of India gazette notification of Ministry of Finance, sovereign gold bonds can only be issued and redeemed at IBJA rates.   He regularly features on various media channels to give his candid views on gold. His quotes and write ups in print media  are most awaited in the jewellery industry. He is said to be a master in interpretation of law related to the Gold industry. He is also on the steering committee of the World Gold council for setting up of bullion exchange and bullion bank. IBJA has set up its offices in 31 states under his able leadership. He is considered to be an expert  in forecasting the gold spot market.

He is part of the Gold standard set up by different exchanges. He is a key person in implementing OECD guidelines for the gold industry.

He regularly features in the media and press for his views on the gold market.


Family Details

Prithviraj Kothari, born on 1st September 1962. He is the son of Badamidevi and Saremal Kapoorchand Kothari who hail from Bhinmal, a small village in Jalore district in the state of Rajasthan. He is the youngest of four brothers – Manekchand, Late Champalal and Bhanwarlal Kothari. He has a younger sister Usha Hiralal Bafna. He is married to Kalavanti Kothari and they have a son, Vivek and daughter in law Dimple.
