Siva Murugesan

Siva Murugesan is the general secretary of Ambedkar Makkal Iyakkam^[1] who has been serving more than 40 years for social welfare.

He has been spreading Ambedkar ideologies from the age of 18 and holds M.A from Annamalai University, Chidambaram.^[2]

Murugesan joined the Ambedkar People's Movement in 1987 as a grassroots activist. He later worked hard to develop the movement and held the posts of Union Youth, Secretary, Union Under Secretary, and Union Secretary.

He later served as the District Youth Secretary from 1977-1998. Then in 2003, he took over as Thanjavur district chief after the demise of Vai. Balasundaram^[3], he took over as the Organizing Secretary of the State in 2018 for the development of the movement and for the sustainability of the party. In 2019, he took over as the general secretary of the party.^[4]

He also played a crucial role in the installation of numerous Ambedkar statues across the state.
