University Institute of Technology RGPV, popularly known as UIT RGPV or UIT RGTU, is a public institution located in Bhopal, India. The institution was established by the government of Madhya Pradesh with the name Government Engineering College (GEC). It is an autonomous institution as of 1986.AICTE Application No./UGC Registration No./College Code is-1-136924 [2]
History[edit]
To address the growing need for engineering expertise, the government of Madhya Pradesh created Government Engineering College (GEC) in 1986 in the state capital of Bhopal. The institute initially offered only Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in mechanical engineering and B.E. in Mining Engineering and (b.e) in computer science and engineering.it was declared autonomous in 2002, .it was made a part of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyala (RGPV), technological university of the state of Madhya Pradesh; at that time the institute took its current name (UIT RGPV).[3]
