Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju (born Angad Gummaraju) is an Indian actress, medical doctor, content creator, and transgender activist known for her works in Television, and Hindi cinema. She began her career as a primary care physician, and made her acting debut with the Made in Heaven romantic drama web series that premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 8 March 2019.[1][2]

Early life and work[edit]

Trinetra Gummaraju was born as Angad Gummaraju on 13 June 1997 in Manipal, Karnataka into a Telugu-speaking family.[3][4] She was raised as a boy in Hyderabad during first eight years. Her father Suresh Gummaraju is an engineer, and her mother Haima Halder is an architect, and a brother Agastya Gummaraju.[3][4] Dr. Trinetra completed M.B.B.S. in 2021.[5] She experienced gender dysphoria as a boy, and began presenting herself as female when she was a teenager and changed her first name to Trinetra, and went through sex reassignment surgery, her family moved to Bengaluru, and supported her through the process.[6] She suffered with gender incongruence, and depression tracing back to her younger years.[3][4]

Career[edit]

She focused on creating content through a mainstream representation of LGBTQIA+ people and bought awareness around transgender rights.[5] Her work has influenced towards lack of queer inclusive information in medical education and transgender phobia in medical colleges across India.[7] In 2022, she was listed in the Frobes 30 Under 30 - Asia - Media, Marketing & Advertising.
