Tipu Munshi (born 25 August 1950)[1] is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Rangpur-4 constituency. In January 2019, he was appointed the Minister of Commerce.[2]
Early life[edit | edit source]
Munshi was born on 25 August 1950 in Gopalganj District, Bangladesh.[3] His family later moved to Rangpur District.[3] He has a bachelor's degree from Government Titumir College .[4]
Career[edit | edit source]
Munshi was elected to Parliament from Rangpur-4 on 5 January 2014 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate.[5] He is the managing director of Sepal Group. He is the chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs. He is a former president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association. He is a director of STS group, the holding company of Apollo Hospital Dhaka.[6][7]
