This template marks the top of a closed report on the edit warring noticeboard. It is used together with {{Edit warring bottom}}, which is placed at the very end of the report.

Usage

When closing a report, add this template at the very top of the report's section, and substitute it:

{{subst:Edit warring top|result}}

The single parameter is the result of the case, for example:

{{subst:Edit warring top|Both editors cautioned, no blocks}}

The named form gives the same output:

{{subst:Edit warring top|result=No violation found}}

Write the result in the report's "Awaiting administrative action" line as usual, sign your closing comment, and then place {{subst:Edit warring bottom}} below it.

Standard results

Use a short, clear outcome, for example:

  • No violation found
  • No action taken
  • Editor cautioned, naming the editor
  • Both editors cautioned
  • Blocked, naming the editor and the length of the block
  • Page protected, naming the page and the length of the protection

After closing

  • Carry out the action first: issue any blocks or protections, and leave any cautions on the editors' talk pages.
  • Move the closed report to Bharatpedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring/Archive 1.
  • Do not edit the report further once it is closed. If the same behaviour happens again, a new report should be filed.
