This template renders a banner at the top of guideline pages, and automatically categorises them into Category:Bharatpedia guidelines.
It is the companion to {{Bharatpedia policy}} and {{Bharatpedia information page}}. A page should carry only one of the three banners, since each indicates a different level of authority.
Usage
Basic usage, with no shortcuts:
{{Bharatpedia guideline}}
With up to five shortcuts:
{{Bharatpedia guideline|BP:MEDRS|BP:MEDSOURCE}}
To suppress automatic categorisation, for example when demonstrating the template on a documentation page:
{{Bharatpedia guideline|BP:MEDRS|nocat=yes}}
To place the page in a more specific category instead of the default:
{{Bharatpedia guideline|BP:MEDRS|category=Bharatpedia content guidelines}}
Parameters
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – optional shortcut page names, without brackets. Up to five may be given.
- nocat – set to
yesto suppress automatic categorisation. - category – name of an alternative category, without the
Category:prefix.
Subcategories
Guidelines are organised into three subcategories. Where a page belongs clearly to one of them, pass it explicitly rather than leaving it in the parent category:
| Subcategory | Applies to |
|---|---|
Bharatpedia behavioral guidelines
|
How editors interact and conduct themselves |
Bharatpedia content guidelines
|
The content of articles and other pages |
Bharatpedia project content guidelines
|
Project-space, help, and administrative pages |
For example:
{{Bharatpedia guideline|BP:CIVIL|category=Bharatpedia behavioral guidelines}}
Behaviour
The template only renders its banner in the project namespace (Bharatpedia:). When transcluded in any other namespace, it renders nothing. The template page itself is likewise left unrendered, so the banner does not appear inside its own documentation.
