Tanmoy Bhattacharya is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly for Dum Dum Uttar.[3][4][5] Currently he is associated with the Communist Party of India(Marxist). He is one of the best speakers in the political outfit of present day West Bengal. He was renowned for dividing the MLA fund, during his term (2016-2021) among the poorest section of the society, which characterizes him as a true Communist. In 2021 WBLA elections, he lost his seat to AITC, inspite of the developmental work which he performed for the society. As an ardent follower of Marx, Lenin and Jyoti Basu, he believes that the people, who didn't vote for him will return to him and the Left Front in the very upcoming elections.
