Swati Kerkar
Swati Shridhar Kerkar is an Indian social activist and politician. She is a member of Indian National Congress party.[1]
Early life[edit]
She is the daughter of Goan freedom fighter Sridhar Kerkar.[2]
Career[edit]
She contested Lok Sabha election 2014 from South Goa of Goa for Aam Aadmi Party.[3] Later she resigned from AAP.[4] She played key roles in agitations that got rid of 18 Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Goa; the agitation against the white elephant airport at Mopa; the Goa Bachao Andolan which revolutionized village level land use planning through the Regional Plan 2021; India Against Corruption, the Goan Farmer's Union and the Goan Women's Voice.[5]
She was the only woman who contested Lok Sabha polls in Goa in 2014. She is vice-president of Goa Suraksha Manch.[6]
