The Nepalese rupee (Nepali: रुपैयाँ, Roman: Rupaiyām̐; symbol: रु.; code: NPR) serves as the official currency of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. It is divided into 100 paisa. The Nepal Rastra Bank, which is the central bank of Nepal, is responsible for the issuance of this currency. The Nepalese rupee was first introduced in 1932, replacing the Nepalese mohar at a conversion rate of 2:1.
