Originally, Pushyamitra's fair wife, Devamala, had done medical treatment for animals. So, Pushyamitra did not insult her and but instead used to separate the cows and her children, the calves. After separating them, he used to kill the cows one by one. Devamala, angrily raged in anger and closed the cow-slaughter in [[History]] but Pushyamitra did not raise his voice at Devamala as both loved each other.
