Aathmika was born into a [[Coimbatore]]-based family that has no connection with the film industry.<ref name=":1" /> She moved to Chennai to complete her graduation from [[M.O.P. Aathmika began her acting career by acting in a short film directed by [[Rajiv Menon]]. Her interest in acting began in college where she had been part of few short films and did a couple of modelling assignments.<ref name=":1" /> She was then given the female lead role in ''[[Meesaya
