The name Rentachintala or Rentachinthala is said to have originated from ''Rendu Chintalu'', ''Rendu'' meaning the numeric 2 and ''Chintalu'' meaning [[tamarind]] in [[Telugu language|Telugu]] language. The village is said to be established between two tamarind trees after which the name of the village is coined. Hindu festival of Vinayakachavithi ([[Ganesh Chaturthi]]) is also celebrated pompously with great grandeur for 3 days. The first day is popular among youth as community games are conducted, the second day is attributed to music and dance and the third day for the grand procession through the entire village. [[Kolatam]] is a local folk dance which finds importance during the 2 day of festivities.
