Prior to immigrating to the United Kingdom in 1981, he undertook his undergraduate training at government medical college Nagpur and continued their to do post- graduation in pediatrics. After immigration and additional training in the UK, he became a consultant pediatrician at Bedford Hospital in 1993. In 1996 he became clinical director of pediatric directorate and supported the design of the mother and baby unit. He developed pediatric rheumatology services, prior to joining as honorary consultant in pediatric rheumatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
