In the [[2006 West Bengal state assembly election|2006 state assembly elections]],<ref name=vidhansabha2006/> Binay Krishna Biswas of [[Communist Party of India (Marxist)|CPI(M)]] won the 88 Krishnaganj (SC) assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Sushil Biswas of [[All India Trinamool Congress|Trinamool Congress]]. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned.
