The village chief Rajadurai ([[Vijay Babu (actor, born 1951)|Vijay Babu]]) is highly respected by the villagers and is seen as a kind-hearted person by them, but in reality, he is an evildoer who rapes many innocent village girls just before their marriages. Devi's father Murugan (Giridhar) is the faithful servant of Rajadurai and the only person who knows about his crimes. When Rajadurai comes to know about Devi's love, he sends henchmen to beat up Kannan and his adoptive father. Rajadurai then convinces Murugan to arrange his daughter's marriage with another man. In the meantime, Raja (Bhuvanesh), a jobless and angry young man, is hired by Rajadurai. He lives with his mother Parvathy ([[K. R. Savithri]]), and he has never known his father. Rajadurai then proposes Raja to get married to Devi.
