Siddhanta Mahapatra (born 4 May 1966)[1] and known professionally as Siddhant/Muna bhai, is an Indian actor, producer, and film distributor & television personality,who works predominantly in Odia, Tollywood, and Tamil cinema. Referred to worldwide by his fans as "Dynamic Superstar" for his roles in action films, Siddhanta has acted in 185 movies with most of them (165) being lead roles. He is the only actor to win 7 Odisha State Film Awards back-to-back, during 2000–2006, including five Filmfare Awards East awards, and the only actor to win National Award For Best Actor in a Negative Role For movie Swayamsiddha(2010). He is one of the few actors to attract Massive fan following from multiple states of India. He has produced and distributed 100 movies under his venture Omm Divya Vision Home Motion Picture, which was founded in 1992, in association with Divya Bharti.

Early life[edit]

Siddhanta was born to a Brahmin family in Brahmapur, Odisha.[2] He completed his elementary schooling at St. Vincent's Convent School, Berhampur, and his higher secondary education at D.D.College, Keonjhar. He pursued an undergraduate program in commerce at Rairangpur College, Mayurbhanj. He then received his master's degree from the Institute of Marketing and Management, Delhi.[citation needed]

Both his father, Dr. Manmohan Mohapatra, and his mother are doctors. He married former actress Mama Mishra, and has a daughter, Saisiddhi Mahapatra, and son, Saisamarth Mahapatra.

Acting[edit]

In 1988 Siddhanta started his acting career to keep his Big Brother/Friend (Late Deva Dutta Mohanty) Request,Who was once tried in Films but didn't successed. Siddhanta started with several regional Sambalpuri, Santali albums,Jatras. By 1990 he performed lead and supporting roles in several Tamil and Telugu movies. His first lead role in a Odia film came in 1992 at the age of 27, in Shradhanjali.[3] Siddhanta is best known for his experiments in movies and high quality Vfx in low budget trend in Odia cinema in Kandei Akhire Luha (1996). He experimented in showing a severed hand in Rakhi bandhili mo rakhiba mana (2000), which was completely new to Oriya films then. The movie Rahichi rahibi tori payeen (2003) showed 100 scorpions, which was again the products of computer graphics. Then, in Dharmara Heba Jaya (2005) and Tate mo Rana (2006), he established his action star image with the two most iconic film of his career. In Dharamara Heba Jaya, Siddhanta portrayed a blind man, while in Tate mo Rana he portrayed the character of a soul which comes back after death. In both these films his performances were experimental.

Politics[edit]

He joined Biju Janata Dal in 2009 and contested as MP from Berhampur constituency in the 2009 "15th Lok Sabha" election, which he won. He won reelection in the 2014 general election by a margin of nearly 100,000 votes amidst stiff competition from UPA and NDA candidates. However he refuse to take Ticket his third bid.[4][5][6][7]
