Siddhant Sarang (Hindi: सिद्धांत सारंग) is an Indian climate activist.[1][2] He is also an ambassador for One Young World, a UK based not-for-profit organization that gathers young leaders from around the world to develop solutions to the globe’s most pressing issues. Siddhant is currently running a one-person volunteer operation to help patients who are facing severe COVID-19 second wave in India.[3][4] He is helping to arrange critical medicines, oxygen, hospital beds, ventilators etc.[5][6][7]

As of 2019, he is pursuing Bachelor of Arts from Satyawati College, University of Delhi in History.[8] He is building the first-ever artificial intelligence-based climate awareness initiative with the help of Nitesh Singh. This one of a kind project seeks to empower grassroots level activists via an app disseminating information on climate change in 24 languages.[9] Sarang was born in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district.[10]

Activism[edit]

Siddhant founded Youth Front liners during his school days to work towards climate change.[11] During this discourse, he also started a monthly journal named ‘Nature Lifeline’ with a purpose to raise awareness and garner support dedicated to the environment by adding pocket money with his friends at a tender age.[12] He appeared in documentary films in Discovery Channel's India My Way show and DD National's Yeh Hai India Meri Jaan show. In October 2019, he represented India in One Young World 2019 Summit in London among 53 commonwealth nations of the world on sustainable development issue, after he won the Queen's Commonwealth Trust scholarship.[13] Siddhant launched first Bhojpuri podcast 'Dharti Maiya' on climate change in Patna to raise awareness about climate change in rural areas of Bihar and UP.[14]
