Shubhada Chari is an Indian author, folklorist[1] and teacher[2] who focuses on writing about folklore of Goa. She has done a study on the historical and geographical aspects of Mhadei river. She has highlighted dams built by the Karnataka Government to divert the river. Becasue of her documentation and awareness regarding Mhadei river she is often called "Daughter of Rivers".[3] She has received Yuva Pratibha Puraskar (2025), Sahitya Puraskar (2022) for her contribution in the feild of folkculture.[1]

Chari is a resident of Sal, a village in Bicholim taluka of Goa. As a student she possssed the understanding about the nature under the guidance of Rajendra Kerkar. She has visited the basin of the river right from itd starting from its origin.[4] In 2015, she received "Yuva Pratibha Puraskar" by the Directorate of Art and Culture and Goa and west zone cultural centre, Udaipur.[5]

Being a disciple of Rajendra Kerkar, she has worked with Vivekanand Environment Awareness Brigade founded by Kerkar. Along with the Brigade, she directed Street plays hilighting the Plastic pollution and other environmental issues.[2] She is also a member of Vivekanand Prerna Pratisthan founded by Pournima Kerkar.[6] She has directed cultural programmes on Doordarshan Goa. As a vocalist and folk researcher she possesses knowlege about the lifestyle and local language. She has served as a translator and research assistant to the author Heta Pandit for the book "Griding Stories of Goa".[7][8] She has also researched and documented the forest dwelling "Dhangar" community of Goa. She subsequently wrote a book titled "Dhangar Stree" where she showed the life of a moman belonging to the Dhanagar Community. Dr. Madhav Gadgil was the Chief Guest for publication of this book.[9]
