Less than a week after Alivardi Khan departed from Katak, Mir Habib returned to the city, overpowered the newly appointed deputy governor who, despite being gravely outnumbered, resisted bravely and sustained serious injuries and reclaimed control of Orissa's capital for the Marathas. In this swift reversal, Alivardi’s recent efforts were completely undone.[1][2][3]
