Sattuvanthangal is one of the 64 village panchayats under Vembakkam block. It is located on the Palar River. The word "Sattuvanthangal" (also spelled as Sattuvanthangal) is derived from the Tamil phrase "Sakthi Vandhu Thangal", meaning "Goddess Shri Durgai Amman".
